Gamecube Controller for Current Gen 3D Game Prop Production

Pictures of a gamecube controller done as part of the course Current Gen 3D Game Prop Production offered by Michigan State University through Coursera.org. This course had me work with Maya, Substance Painter, and Marmoset to create a prop. For the project, I chose a Gamecube controller as it was an object I owned and could easily reference.

I chose not to model the controller's connection cable as to keep the model simple as per the course's instruction to keep the modeled object simple. This was overall a hard course for me as I was not very strong at working with high poly 3D models, but the course helped me learn the basics of how to handle it, even if my final result was not perfectly polished. The course took me a long time to complete (4 months on and off), but gave me a much stronger understanding of 3d modeling and of Maya, a program I previously struggled to use. I found that working with materials in substance painter was also very rewarding to learn.
